iTunes U

Talk about eLearning in action and a continuous state of flux - iTunes U is it. This stands for iTunes University and it is an AMAZING collection of lectures straight from an impressive list of universities to you via your iTunes program and even in your iPod if you want to watch/listen on the go!
This is a screen capture of just some of the providers (including Texas A&M, Dr. N!) and the most amazing part is that ALL of the content is absolutely free. You can access some of the most fabulous minds and extensive data quickly, conveniently, and at no expense.
I noticed when taking this screen shot that they have also started to put content into categories. There are the traditional 'Math', 'Science' type of categories, but also 'Teaching & Education' and 'Health & Medicine'.
Some of the high school teachers here at Danville do utilize lessons from iTunes U and I've even had students tell me that they've gotten additional information about a topic on iTunes U, so they are using it as a resource.
If you want to check it out as well, here are some helpful tips. The iTunes software is dual platform and completely free, but you will need it to access iTunes U. If you don't have iTunes on your machine and you want it, here's where to go: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Once you have iTunes, simply click on the the iTunes Store link in the left menu bar
. Once you're in iTunes U you can browse or search by specific topic. Happy eLearning!
